“The worst case scenario is missing out on the best case scenario.” Brooke Castillo, 2018
We take decisions for granted. We make them constantly, subconsciously, without a second thought. And then we wonder why we aren’t getting anywhere.
Making intentional decisions is the key to shifting your mindset and your life; it is the only way to becoming the ‘better’ version of yourself.
Decisions are the pathway up the mountain, with your established values at base camp and your goal realisation being at the apex.
So here you are at the bottom of the mountain, navigating your way to the top, making wrong turns, acquiring additional resources, engaging your support team, stopping to admire the view.
How do you know you are making intentional decisions? Plug in your values, they are hanging out there at base camp; play to your strengths, they will help with each action step; most importantly, allow for compassion and checking in.
What is the decision / question?
What are the benefits and costs of each option?
Where are my values present and where are they absent?
What are the potential obstacles (both circumstantial and mental)?
What is my strategy to overcome these obstacles when they arise?
When and in what situation will I support myself to rationally change my mind?
What are the steps within this decision? And what do these look like on a timeline?
Draw the timeline. Visualise. Create your mountain.
What decision are you putting off making? Allocate 30 minutes to complete the above steps-no more than 30 minutes. I wonder what you will get?
