Plug in Your Values - Sep24

GoCoachYourself - Empowering you to know you.

“Your personal values are things you need in order to feel like the best, happiest version of yourself.”

Jason Zook

To be self aware and able to live in a place of joy, peace and happiness as much as you can, plug your values into your daily life. Turn your least favourite daily tasks into a pleasure when you spin in some of your core self.

You know what makes you tick, you know what behaviours serve you well and what drives them. Apply these to those tasks you struggle with completing or even beginning.

For example, let’s say you have a goal this month to spend 30 minutes every weekday working on your book writing. You have scheduled this into your calendar at 6am before the kids wake up. How do you resist the urge to press snooze on your alarm and find the power to get up on Monday morning?

Now, assuming your values include peace, teamwork, and luxury you can use these to make your wake up call more pleasurable.

For you, peace means quiet, coffee with coconut milk, a view, a candle, alone time, no interruptions. So, this is the best time for you to do this book writing-at 6am, because you will have peace.

For you, teamwork means working to your strengths in your relationship with your partner. So, if you get up at 6am and do this writing every morning, your partner has agreed to utilise their cooking talent and passion and make dinner every night.

For you, luxury means nice stationery, a gold coloured laptop, a comfy leather chair, plants around you, hand-pottered mug, ink pens, silky dressing gown. So, to support this 6am task, create the environment that has you smiling and sinking lovingly into the task.

Self coaching question: What do I need to do to incorporate my values into this task?

Hot tip: Create a poster with how you want to feel as you do this task, for the example above, it could be BOSS, CALM, KNOWING, CREATIVE, or ALIGNED.
